Cake Smash Guide
Thank you for choosing me as your photographer, I am looking forward to having you in the studio.
A Cake Smash session is 1hr long. All children are different and some get stuck in quicker than others. Your session could possibly be shorter than this, depending on your little one. To help the session run smoothly I have created a session guide for you.
Session Style
Your questionnaire that you filled out helps me get an idea of what you would like during your session.
The most frequently asked question, 'what should my child wear?' Rompers and dresses are the most common outfit choice. To help bring the set up together, I recommend an outfit that matches the chosen colour scheme. You are welcome to bring two outfits with you. One outfit for the pre smash portraits and another outfit for the cake smash. I do have some outfits in the studio that clients are welcome to use.
Let's get you prepared...
Not all children get stuck in straight away as some may find it overwhelming. This is completely normal so please don't worry. It is a good idea to bring their favourite snacks with you. Hiding them behind the cake can help encourage them to dig in.
At the end of the session, there will be a lot of mess. Please bring plenty of wipes and a spare outfit for them to go home in. I also recommend a plastic bag for the dirty clothes so it's easier for you to take home.
Not only will your child get messy but so will you! Please don't wear anything you are worried about getting dirty.
Smash & Splash
If you have booked in for a Smash & Splash photoshoot it is important that you bring a towel with you and a swimming nappy for the bath tub.
TIPS
ARRIVE EARLY!
5 minutes early is perfect, this way you won't be stressing and rushing. Those extra minutes allow you time to make sure children are all neat and tidy before you come down to the studio. Please plan ahead of time and use your maps to determine how long it may take to arrive at the studio. Please remain in the car until I have responded to your message as I may be with clients in the studio.
Night before
Pack your bag the night before so you can make sure you have everything. I am a toddler mum myself and it is so easy to forget things.
